DEPARTMENT OF PHARMACEUTICS

Pharmaceutics is the discipline of pharmacy that deals with the process of turning a new chemical entity (NCE) into a medication to be used safely and effectively by patients. It is also called the science of dosage form design. Pharmaceutics helps relate the formulation of drugs to their delivery and disposition in the body

The Under Graduate Programme (B. Pharm.) students get exposure of Pharmaceutical technology, Pharmaceutical dosage forms etc. In course work, emphasis is given to understand fundamental concept underlying these subject areas.

DEPARTMENT OF PHARMACEUTICAL CHEMISTRY

Pharmaceutical Chemistry deals with synthesis, characterization and analysis of drugs. The department focuses on both basic science and Clinical interest in Medicinal Chemistry, Natural Products, Drug Discovery, Analytical Chemistry, Computational Chemistry etc.

The responsibilities of the quality of medicine include both responsibilities of quality control and quality assurance department. Quality assurance is the action of giving proof required to set up quality in work.

DEPARTMENT OF PHARMACOLOGY

The field of Pharmacology & Toxicology are by its natural interdisciplinary bio-medical approach, dawning upon the foundation and approaches of Anatomy & Physiology, Pathophysiology, Cell-Biology, and Molecular Biology & Genetics. Pharmacology aims to investigate fundamental aspects of drug effects, drug interaction, cellular and molecular, bio regulatory mechanisms for purpose of drug discovery and pharmacotherapy.

Pharmacology deals with application of drug treatment to patients in hospitals or clinics. It ensures the most appropriate & safe use of medicines. Knowledge & skill relative to pharmacology & pharmacotherapy use by pharmacist to communicate with other health care professionals and patients in order to promote the effective use of medicines in hospitals & primary care.

DEPARTMENT OF PHARMACOGNOSY

Herbal medicine is now making dramatic comeback, Pharmacognosy is specific discipline which deals with versatile studies of the drug and auxiliary substances of biological origin (Plants, Animals & Minerals). This subject provides information about procedure used in manufacturing of materials of natural origin, extraction, isolation, purification of medicinal substances and quality control.
